The Town Board of the Town of New Hartford desires the term of office
of its designated elective officers to be for a four-year period. The purpose
of this article is to change the term of office of the Town Supervisor in
accordance with the provisions of Municipal Home Rule Law § 23,
Subdivision 2e, from a period of two years to a period of four years in order
to coincide with the four-year terms provided for Town Councilmen, Receiver
of Taxes and Assessments and Town Justices.
The term of office of the Town Supervisor of the Town of New Hartford
shall be changed from two years to four years commencing with the term of
such officer elected at the biennial election of such town in the year 1989.
Such four-year term for the Town Supervisor shall commence on the first
day of January following the general election for the year 1989, and, thereafter,
the Town Supervisor shall be elected for a term of four years.

The Town Supervisor, William Keiser, is authorized to also hold the
position designated Economic Development Director.
This article shall run from the date of the original enactment of the
resolution, January 8, 1998, to December 31, 1998.
