There is hereby created in the Village of Quogue the Office
of Ordinance Enforcement Officer.
The Mayor, with the consent of the Board of Trustees, may appoint
as many Ordinance Enforcement Officers as he shall determine to be
necessary and may designate one of such Ordinance Enforcement Officers
to be the Chief Ordinance Enforcement Officer of the Village or may
designate some other person to be head of the Ordinance Enforcement
Officers for the purpose of supervising and directing their activities.
The term of office of each Ordinance Enforcement Officer shall
be one year or such lesser period as may be designated by the Mayor
at the time of an Ordinance Enforcement Officer's appointment.
The Mayor is authorized to make rules and regulations as may
be required for the efficient administration of such Ordinance Enforcement
Officers and may also provide, within the limits of any appropriation
and subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees:
A. A
training program for Ordinance Enforcement Officers.
B. Liability
insurance for such Ordinance Enforcement Officers which shall protect
them and the Village from acts of liability that may arise during
the performance of their duties.
C. Workers'
compensation; accidental injury insurance; disability insurance or
life insurance.
D. For
the payment of Ordinance Enforcement Officers for services rendered
upon an hourly basis or otherwise.
E. For
the assignment of Ordinance Enforcement Officers to duty.
F. For
Ordinance Enforcement Officers who may act as such upon a volunteer
basis, without compensation.
G. Uniforms
and equipment for Ordinance Enforcement Officers as may be necessary
or desirable to carry out the duties of the office.
