Athletic teams can be sponsored by licensees
of any class. When the sponsored teams consist of players under the
age of 18 years, the use of the words bar, cocktail, liquor, package
goods, tavern, or similar terms which are associated with the sale
or consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited. When all of the
players are at least 18 years of age, such terms can be utilized in
the team identification or on uniforms.
Bingo is permitted in an establishment with
a club license if the bingo game has been licensed under the Bingo
Licensing Law, N.J.S.A. 5:8-24 et seq. However, no alcoholic beverages
may be sold or consumed in the part of the licensed premises where
the bingo game is being played during the period of time when the
game is being played.
A licensee cannot sponsor a bus trip where alcoholic
beverages are served or are made available on the bus if there is
a charge for the bus trip. However, on any bus trip passengers may
bring their own alcoholic beverage package goods which were purchased
at retail.
No licensee shall offer a free drink or alcoholic
beverages as a prize or reward. A licensee is also prohibited from
offering a gift certificate which includes alcoholic beverages as
a prize or reward.
A licensee is permitted to charge a cover charge
for admission to the licensed premises. However, the cover charge
may include only one alcoholic drink, and not more than one alcoholic
drink.
No licensee shall donate any alcoholic beverages
in any form to a charitable organization or otherwise. Such donations
are considered a sale below cost which is prohibited by state law.
No licensee shall provide live entertainment
of the type that includes erotic dancing, wet tee-shirt contests or
other sexually suggestive activities. A licensee may hire a band or
a singer to perform in the licensed premises. However, all entertainers
must be at least 18 years of age to perform in the licensed premises.
Raffle tickets for a raffle properly licensed
under New Jersey law and run by a bona fide nonprofit organization
may be sold on a licensed premises by a patron or by a licensee, provided
that the licensee is not compensated for selling or permitting the
sale of the tickets.
Video games which are for entertainment purposes
only and whose outcome depends on skill as opposed to chance are permitted
on the licensed premises. Most video games which have a card, dice,
horse racing, roulette, slot machine, or similar format are prohibited.
