The provisions of this article shall apply except
when it is necessary to stop a vehicle to avoid conflict with other
traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or
official traffic control device.
No person shall park a vehicle at any time upon any of the streets or parts thereof described in Schedule XIII (§
195-48), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall stop a vehicle upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in Schedule XIV (§
195-49), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall stand a vehicle upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in Schedule XV (§
195-50), attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall park a vehicle between the hours specified in Schedule XVI (§
195-51) of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said schedule, attached to and made a part of this chapter.

The Chief of Police or the Chief's designee may erect and post
temporary "no parking" signs for designated days and hours for mass
gatherings or assemblies of a temporary nature, public emergencies,
and areas to provide access for emergency and fire vehicles. No person
shall park a vehicle in a designated temporary "no parking" area during
the designated times.
No person shall stop a vehicle during the times specified in Schedule XVII (§
195-52) of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said schedule, attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall stand a vehicle during the times specified in Schedule XVIII (§
195-53) of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said schedule, attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall park a vehicle for longer than the time limit shown in Schedule XIX (§
195-54) at any time between the hours listed in said schedule of any day, unless otherwise indicated, upon any of the streets or parts of streets described in said schedule, attached to and made a part of this chapter.
No person shall park a vehicle upon any of the streets or parts thereof described in Schedule XX (§
195-55), attached to and made a part of this chapter, except at the angle designated and only within the painted stall lines. On all streets or portions thereof where angle parking is now or shall hereafter be authorized, all vehicles parked thereon shall be parked with the front thereof nearest the curb.
The locations described in Schedule XXI (§
195-56), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as loading zones.
The locations described in Schedule XXII (§
195-57), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as taxi stands.
The locations described in Schedule XXIII (§
195-58), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as bus stops.
The locations described in Schedule XXIV (§
195-59), attached to and made a part of this chapter, are hereby designated as handicapped parking areas, and only those vehicles displaying valid handicapped parking permits or valid state handicapped license plates shall park in the handicapped parking spaces designated in said Schedule XXIV.

Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic,
or when in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer
or traffic-control device, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle
in the Town of Poughkeepsie:
A. On the roadway side of any vehicle stopped, standing or parked at
the edge or curb of a street; or
C. Within an intersection, except when permitted by official signs or
parking meters on the side of a highway opposite a street which intersects
but does not cross such highway; or

No person shall stand or park a vehicle in the Town of Poughkeepsie,
whether occupied or not, except momentarily to pick up or discharge
a passenger or passengers in front of a public or private driveway.

No motor vehicle shall be parked on the public highways of the
Town of Poughkeepsie unless a certificate or certificates of inspection
as required by New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, Title III,
Article 5, is or are displayed upon the vehicle or affixed to the
registration certificate for the vehicle as may be determined by the
Commissioner of Motor Vehicles.

No motor vehicle shall be parked on the public highways of the
Town of Poughkeepsie unless proof of registration in accordance with
the provisions of Title IV, Article 14, of the New York State Vehicle
and Traffic Law is displayed as required by the Commissioner of Motor
Vehicles.
