A. 
There shall be a Department of Planning, the head of which shall be the Town Planner, who shall be appointed by the Town Manager and confirmed by the Town Council.
B. 
The Planning Department shall work in close cooperation with the Planning Board, Appeals Board, Public Safety Department and the Town Attorney.
Duties of Town Planner:
A. 
Be responsible for the review and verification of all applications for subdivision and shoreland zoning permits.
B. 
Be responsible to advise applicants and the Planning Board of application status and compliance with ordinance and coordinate review of applications with appropriate municipal departments.
C. 
Attend and provide staff support to all Planning Board meetings.
D. 
Be responsible for future land use planning and the Comprehensive Plan.
E. 
Be responsible to draft changes to land use ordinances.
F. 
Be responsible to prepare and submit community or economic development grant applications and administer the same upon award.
G. 
Prepare and submit the recommended budget to the Town Manager.
H. 
Perform such other duties as the Town Manager may from time to time establish.
