No person shall conduct an open burn within the boundaries of the Town of Standish without first receiving a burn permit authorized by the Fire Chief or designee. The Fire Chief shall have discretionary authority to impose conditions of approval on any permit issued so long as these conditions are based on prevailing weather conditions or specific features of the proposed open burn. The Fire Chief or designee has authority to modify or waive §§ 142-14 through 142-17.
The footprint of any open burn shall not exceed dimensions of eight feet by eight feet.
Incinerator devices of any type shall be prohibited.
All open burns shall be attended by a minimum of one person, or more persons if so required by the Fire Chief.
All open burns shall be extinguished by 10:00 p.m.
The holder of a burn permit shall be held responsible for the proper and safe conduct of an open burn.
Violations of this Article shall be punishable by a fine in the amount of $50.
