There shall be a Senior Citizens Committee (Advisory), consisting of 10 members, one of whom shall be a member of the Township Council, and nine of whom shall be citizens who have attained the age of 60 years. The one representative of the Township Council shall be appointed by and shall serve at the pleasure of the Township Council. The term of each senior citizen member shall be two years, commencing on January 1, after the term of the initially appointed member. An initially appointed member shall be appointed for a term of either one year or two years, the length of the term to be determined by the Council so that the terms of 1/2 of the members expire each year. The members shall serve until their respective successors are appointed and qualified. Members shall serve without compensation.
In the event of resignation of any citizen member or his death or inability to serve or absence without acceptable reason from three consecutive meetings of the Committee, the Township Council shall fill the vacancy for the remainder of the unexpired term.

The Committee shall elect a Chairperson and a Vice Chairperson at its organizational meeting in January.

The Committee shall hold regular monthly meetings at the same time and day of each month in the Town Hall or as set in its organizational meeting in January (at the Recreation Center). Special meetings may be called in accordance with rules adopted by the Committee. The Committee may make and amend rules and regulations concerning the conduct of its meetings.

The Committee shall investigate such problems affecting senior citizens of the Township as requested by or referred to it by the Township Administrator, Mayor or Township Council. It shall also make recommendations to the Township Administrator, Mayor and Township Council concerning or relating to issues that affect senior citizens of the Township. Any technical assistance needed by the Committee may be supplied by the Township Administrator.
