This chapter shall be known as "Local Law No. 6 of 2003: Official Town Newspaper."
The purpose of this chapter is to supersede § 64(11) of the Town Law regarding the designation of the official Town newspaper for the Town of Pittsford to allow the Town Board of the Town of Pittsford to select an alternate official Town newspaper.
This chapter is adopted pursuant to Municipal Home Rule Law § 10(3).
This chapter shall supersede Town Law § 64(11) regarding the selection of an official Town newspaper.
The Town Board of the Town of Pittsford may designate as the Town's official newspaper any newspaper of general circulation in the Town without regard to the order or hierarchy set forth in § 64(11) of the Town Law, provided that the newspaper meets the statutory definition of a newspaper as found in General Construction Law § 60(a) and Public Officers Law § 70-a.
The Town Board of the Town of Pittsford may designate an alternate official newspaper to be used for public notices where the Town's official newspaper is not viable due to statutory publication timeframes. The alternate official newspaper must be a newspaper as defined in General Construction Law § 60(a) and Public Officers Law § 70-a and must be in general circulation in the Town.
