§ 104-6 Motor vehicles not to be driven on sidewalks.

No person shall operate a motor vehicle or tractor upon any sidewalk in the Borough, nor shall any person operate a motor vehicle upon or across any sidewalk except in order to gain access to or egress from a driveway or alley at such locations where the curb, if such sidewalk is curbed, shall have been properly cut down for the purpose. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $50 and costs of prosecution or to imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 10 days, or both.

§ 104-8 Traffic signals at certain intersections.

A. At the following intersections official traffic signals shall be erected (or if heretofore erected are hereby ratified), and traffic at such intersections shall be directed by such signals:

B. Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall disobey the directions of any traffic signal shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $5 and costs of prosecution or to imprisonment in the county jail for not more than three days, or both.

B. § 104-11 U-turns prohibited.

It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle or tractor to make a U-turn anywhere upon any highway in the Borough. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $10 and costs of prosecution or to imprisonment in the county jail for not more than five days, or both.

§ 104-16 Stop intersections established.

A. The following intersections are hereby established as stop intersections, and official stop signs shall be erected (or are hereby confirmed if heretofore erected) in such a position as to face traffic approaching the second-named highway upon the first-named highway, in the direction or directions hereby indicated. All vehicles and tractors approaching any such intersection upon the first-named highway, in the direction or directions hereby indicated in each case, shall come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any such intersection:

B. Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall fail to come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any stop intersection, as hereinabove required, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $5 and costs of prosecution or to imprisonment in the county jail for not more than three days, or both.

§ 104-17 Yield right-of-way intersections established.

A. The following intersections are hereby established as yield right-of-way intersections, and official yield signs shall be erected (or are hereby ratified if heretofore enacted) in such a position as to face traffic approaching the second-named highway from the first-named highway, in the direction or directions hereby indicated. All vehicles and tractors approaching any such intersection upon the first-named highway, in the direction or directions hereby indicated, shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on the second-named highway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time that the operator of such vehicle or tractor is moving across or within such intersection.

B. Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall fail to yield the right-of-way, as hereinabove required, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $5 and costs of prosecution or to imprisonment in the county jail for not more than three days, or both.

§ 104-18 Traffic lane restrictions.

A. No operator of any motor vehicle shall make a left turn except from the inner lane of the direction in which the motor vehicle shall be traveling, nor shall an operator of any motor vehicle make a right turn except from the extreme right lane in the direction in which the vehicle is traveling, at the following intersections:

Any operator of a motor vehicle who shall fail to make a left or right turn or proceed through an intersection, as hereinabove required, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $5 and costs of prosecution or to imprisonment in the county jail for not more than three days, or both.

§ 104-19 Blocking certain intersections prohibited.

A. It shall be unlawful for any operator of any motor vehicle to block traffic at any of the following intersections where the proper signs have been erected:

§ 104-20 Certain classes of vehicles prohibited on certain highways.

A. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any truck, truck tractor or semitrailer, except a passenger vehicle (but not including any passenger vehicle drawing any trailer or towing any vehicle), and except for the purpose of local delivery, upon any of the following portions of the highways in the Borough:

B. Notwithstanding the provisions in § 104-20A above, all municipal vehicles owned and operated by the Borough of West Chester, East Bradford Township, or their agents or designees shall be permitted at any time on the following roads through the Borough of West Chester:

C. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $50 and costs of prosecution or to imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 10 days, or both, provided that nothing herein shall prohibit the operation of any commercial vehicle or tractor upon any highway or portion thereof listed hereinabove where such operation thereon shall be necessary in order to pick up or deliver any goods, wares, merchandise or material from or to any premises located upon any such highway or portion thereof.

§ 104-21 (Reserved)

§ 104-22 Unlawful to operate motor vehicles or tractors on highways closed for construction or repair.

It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle or tractor upon any highway in the Borough that is under construction, resurfacing or repair, in disregard of any official sign, barricade or notice that the same is closed to vehicular traffic. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25 and costs of prosecution or to imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 10 days, or both.

§ 104-24 Accident reports required.

The operator of any motor vehicle involved in an accident in the Borough and required by law to report such accident to any department or agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or any other person required to make such report shall, at the time of making such report to the commonwealth, make a written report to the Chief of Police of the Borough containing the same information. Any person failing to make the report to the Chief of Police hereby required shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $10 and costs of prosecution or to imprisonment in the county jail for not more than five days, or both.
