There is hereby established a Conservation Commission,
hereinafter called the "Commission," for the promotion and development
of the natural resources and for the protection of watershed resources
of the City of Chicopee as provided by and in accordance with the
provisions of MGL c. 40, § 8C, and which shall consist of
seven members who shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the
provisions of the City Charter.
Upon the passage of this article, the terms
of the members shall be for one, two or three years and so arranged
that the terms of approximately 1/3 of the members will expire each
year. and their successors shall be appointed for terms of three years
each.
Any member of the Commission so appointed may,
after public hearing, if requested, be removed by the Mayor for cause.
A vacancy occurring in the membership of the
Committee otherwise than by expiration of a term shall be filled for
the unexpired term in the same manner as an original appointment.

The Commission may appoint such clerks and other
employees as it may from time to time require and expend such funds
as may be appropriated by the City Council.
The Commission shall have all of the powers
and exercise all of the duties as are provided for in the provisions
of the MGL c. 40, § 8C, and such other powers as may be
granted to such Commission under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
