Said Commission shall research local problems of people with disabilities and shall coordinate its activities with other local groups organized for similar purposes.
Said Commission shall keep records of its meetings and actions.

A. 
Said Commission shall consist of seven members and two alternative members. An alternative member shall sit on the Commission in the case of absence, inability to act or apparent conflict of interest on the part of any Commission member. Said Commission shall report local problems of people with disabilities to the local coordinator for the disabled and shall make recommendations to the City's Coordinator for the Disabled and shall suggest means to correct problems confronted by the people with disabilities in Chicopee.
B. 
Terms of office for permanent and alternative members shall be three years.
Any member of said Commission may be removed by the appointing authority for cause. Any member so removed may request a hearing before the appointing authority by filing a written notice objecting to his or her removal within 10 days of the receipt of notice of said removal. A vacancy occurring otherwise than by expiration of a term shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as an original appointment, within 30 days.
The Chairman of the Commission shall be chosen annually by a majority vote of said Commission members.
Said Commission shall work in conjunction with the coordinator for the disabled and shall investigate and research specific problems it believes to be confronting the people with disabilities.

The Mayor shall be the appointing authority, with confirmation by the City Council, to take effect February 1, 1990.
The Commission shall receive no compensation.
