It shall be lawful for any owner or occupant of premises fronting upon any street or alley in which the grade thereof has been legally established, and upon notice from the Superintendent of Highways that it shall be his duty to plant shade trees along the sidewalk in front of said premises after the grade of such street or alley has been legally established.
Trees shall not be placed nearer than one foot from the curbline, nor shall they be placed within six feet of the center of the sidewalk, except by permission of the Superintendent of Highways.
All shade trees growing along any sidewalk within the town shall be kept trimmed at least 12 feet from the ground.
The Superintendent of Highways may, however, allow newly planted trees to remain untrimmed, provided that they do not interfere with persons using the walk and provided that they do not obstruct the light of any electric lamp.
The Superintendent of Highways may remove dead trees or limbs.
