§ 5-3 Word usage.

The present tense includes the future; the singular number includes the plural, and the plural, the singular; and the masculine gender includes the feminine gender.

§ 5-4 Definitions.

Unless otherwise expressly stated, the following words and phrases shall be construed throughout this chapter to have the meanings indicated:

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE

All personnel in those units of the Township which are under the authority of the Township Manager.

BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS or BOARD

The Board of Commissioners of the Township of Lower Merion.

BUREAU

One of the branches of an office or department.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The Township Manager of the Township of Lower Merion.

DEPARTMENT

One of the major organizational divisions of the executive branch of Township government which is charged with a specific set of public service activities, duties or operational responsibilities.

DIVISION

One of the branches of an office or department.

MANAGER

The Township Manager of the Township of Lower Merion.

OFFICE

One of the major organizational divisions of the executive branch of Township government which is charged with a specific set of public service activities, duties or operational responsibilities.

PRESIDENT

The President of the Board of Commissioners.

SECTION

One of the branches of a division or bureau.

STATUTE

Legislation enacted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or by the United States of America.

TOWNSHIP

The Township of Lower Merion.

UNIT

One of the branches of a division or bureau.
