The Board of Commissioners at the commencement
of the fiscal year in any even-numbered year, or as soon thereafter
as may be practicable, shall elect, by a vote of a majority of the
members, one person as Township Engineer, who shall be a registered
civil engineer. He shall serve for a term of two years and until his
successor qualifies. Vacancies in the office of Township Engineer
shall be filled by the Board of Commissioners for the unexpired term.
The compensation of the Township Engineer shall
be provided for in the annual budget ordinance.
The Township Engineer shall have those duties
specified by the First Class Township Code and other statutes and
by the Lower Merion Code. Requests for the services of the Township
Engineer shall be made by the Board of Commissioners or by the Township
Manager or his designee.
