No person shall discharge any firearms in the incorporated limits of the Village of Babylon or propel any missile by means of any device whatsoever in or across any public street, road, place or public park or any place within 2,000 feet of a public park in any direction.
The provisions of this article shall not apply to:
A. 
A law enforcement officer in the performance of his official duties.
B. 
The lawful use of a firearm in defense of person or property.

A. 
Any person committing an offense against any provision of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be guilty of a violation pursuant to the Penal Law of the State of New York, punishable by a fine not exceeding $250 or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. The continuation of an offense against the provisions of this article shall constitute, for each day the offense is continued, a separate and distinct offense hereunder.
B. 
In addition or as an alternative to the above-provided penalties, the Board of Trustees may also maintain an action or proceeding in the name of the Village in a court of competent jurisdiction to compel compliance with or to restrain by injunction the violation of this article.

No person shall offer, sell, loan, lease or give to any child under the age or 16 years any commercially made slingshot. It shall be unlawful for any child under the age of 16 years to have in his possession or use any commercially made slingshot.
No person shall use, shoot with or discharge in, upon or across any street, public grounds, park or public place within the limits of the Village of Babylon any bow, longbow, crossbow, paint gun or laser gun, or other similar device which is calculated or intended to propel or project an arrow or other projectile, nor in or upon any private grounds or building where the projectile propelled or discharged by the use of such bow or similar device may endanger the life, limb or property of another.

Every person convicted of a violation of this article shall, in addition to penalties provided for in § 158-7, surrender, forfeit and deliver up to such official, agency or department designated by the Board of Trustees such article or instrument used in the violation of this article.
