Every person licensed to sell, purchase, barter
and deal in junk, old metal and other secondhand articles shall keep
in a book obtained from or under the direction of the Chief of Police
a record, in ink and in the English language, of the business done
by him, as follows: a description of every article purchased or sold
by him, written at the time of such purchase or sale; the name and
residence of the person from or to whom the article was purchased
or sold; and the day and hour of such purchase or sale.
Every person licensed to sell, purchase, barter
and deal in junk, old metal and other secondhand articles shall keep
any property purchased by him for a period of 10 days. During such
period such property shall be kept separate and distinct and shall
not be disfigured or treated in any way by which its identity may
be destroyed or affected.
Shops or storehouses used for the reception
of junk, old metal and other secondhand articles shall be kept in
good order at all times, and any of such articles coming into public
view shall be inoffensive to the owners or occupants of the greater
part of the land within 200 feet of such building or place.
The book of record referred to in §
147-1, and every shop, storehouse, bag, wagon, cart, foundry or place of business of any person licensed to sell, purchase, barter and deal in junk, old metal and other secondhand articles, shall be subject to the inspection and examination of the Chief of Police or any person authorized by him.
The provisions of R.I.G.L. §§ 5-21-2
through 5-21-7 shall be and are herewith made effective in the Town.
