Crossing guards shall be responsible for assisting children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersections.
A. 
Crossing guards must:
(1) 
Have the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
(2) 
Have the ability to deal effectively and courteously with associates and the general public.
(3) 
Be in a physical condition that will permit adequate job performance.
(4) 
Successfully complete a training program.
B. 
Crossing guards must not:
(1) 
Currently be, or have been on a court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense of the grade of Class B misdemeanor or above, within the last 10 years.
(2) 
Have been convicted of an offense of the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or above within the last 10 years.
(3) 
Have been convicted of a felony offense or any family violence offense, at any time.
A. 
Each applicant for employment as a crossing guard shall have a fingerprint impression of the fingers of both of his or her hands taken by the Kingston City Police Department.
B. 
The Kingston City Police Department is authorized to forward the applicant's fingerprints to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services for a criminal convictions investigation prior to the hiring of the applicant.
C. 
The information secured as a result of the investigation shall be reviewed by the City of Kingston Police Chief or his designees for review and consideration of the contents of those records and the prohibitions on eligibility as set forth in Section § 32-2 above.
