The Borough Planning Commission shall be reduced to five members and such reduction shall be effectuated by allowing the terms to expire and making no new appointments to fill the vacancy. The said Borough Planning Commission shall perform all the duties and may exercise all the powers conferred upon Borough Planning Commissions by law;[2] provided, however, that the members of the existing Borough Planning Commission shall serve as members of Borough Planning Commission hereby created until the end of the terms for which they were appointed, and nothing herein shall affect the tenure of any member of the said existing Planning Commission, but any vacancy occurring therein shall be filled in the manner and for the term provided In the law governing borough planning commissions in effect at the time of the occurrence of such vacancy.
