The position of Commissioner of Insurance is hereby established.
Appointment to the position of Commissioner of Insurance shall be made by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. The term of office shall be one year, but the first term shall commence upon the effective date of this chapter and shall expire December 31 of the same year. Thereafter, every appointment shall be made for the calendar year. A vacancy for the office shall be filled for the unexpired term only.
The Commissioner of Insurance shall come under and report to the Director of Finance.

A. 
The Commissioner of Insurance shall be responsible for and act on all matters involving insurance within the Borough.
B. 
He or she shall be the liaison between the insurance carriers and the Borough Council.
C. 
He or she shall act as the Borough's representative to any group involving insurance to which the Borough participates.
D. 
A report shall be made monthly through the Director of Finance as to new claims filled and the status of all outstanding and settled claims. He or she shall also report on any problems incurred.[1]
