Every driver of a vehicle, in starting, slowing up, stopping, turning while in motion or backing, shall indicate their intention by a timely and appropriate signal.
Every driver of a vehicle, excepting when passing a vehicle ahead, shall keep to the right and as near the right curb as possible and shall always proceed in the general direction of traffic.
Every driver of a vehicle meeting another vehicle shall pass on the right.
A driver overtaking another vehicle shall, in passing, keep to the left, but they shall not leave the line on the right unless there is a clear way in advance on the left.
Every driver approaching an intersection, crosswalk, corner or curve not protected by a signal system or police officer shall proceed in a cautious manner and in such a way as not to cause damage or injury to other vehicles and pedestrians.
A. 
Indicating course to police officer. Every driver approaching an intersection protected by a police officer shall indicate to such officer the course they intend to take.
B. 
Entering marked crosswalks. No vehicle shall enter a marked crosswalk not protected by a signal system or police officer while a pedestrian is passing through the driver's right-hand section thereof until such pedestrian has passed beyond the path of the vehicle.
C. 
Entering unmarked crosswalks. No vehicle shall enter an unmarked crosswalk not protected by a signal system or police officer when a pedestrian passing through the driver's right-hand section thereof indicates their intention to cross until such pedestrian has passed beyond the path of the vehicle.
D. 
Vehicle distance requirements in approaching crosswalk. No vehicle shall be within five feet of any other vehicle in front of it when approaching and passing over a crosswalk.
E. 
Entering crosswalk obstructed by other vehicles. No vehicle shall enter any crosswalk not protected by a signal system or police officer when any other vehicle headed in the same direction is stopped at such crosswalk.
F. 
Vehicles required to stop at intersection. The driver of a vehicle shall come to a full stop before entering a through way or any other intersection deemed necessary by the City Manager and Chief of Police. Suitable stop signs shall be erected at such intersection.
No vehicle shall enter any portion of a safety zone.
The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the right at an intersection or into any alley or driveway shall approach the point of turning in the traffic lane nearest the right-hand edge or curb of the street and, in turning, shall keep as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the street. Right turns may be made at all intersections, subject to traffic signals and the rights of pedestrians.
The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left at an intersection or into an alley or driveway shall approach the point of turning in the lane for traffic to the right of and next to the center of the roadway, and, unless otherwise directed by turning markers, the driver of a vehicle in turning left at an intersection shall pass to the right of the center of the intersection before turning. Upon streets laned for traffic and upon one-way streets, a left turn shall be made from the left lane of traffic.
No vehicle shall enter any sidewalk except for the purpose of passing through driveways.
Upon the approach of any authorized emergency vehicle or vehicles giving audible signal or bell, siren or exhaust whistle, the driver of every other vehicle shall immediately drive the same to a position as near as possible, and parallel, to the right-hand edge or curb of the street clear of any intersection and shall stop and remain in such position until the authorized emergency vehicle or vehicles shall have passed, unless otherwise directed by a police officer.
Drivers of motor vehicles, unless on official business, shall keep at least one block behind any fire apparatus traveling in response to a fire alarm and shall not park any vehicle within or drive any vehicle into the block where the fire apparatus has stopped in answer to a fire alarm.
No vehicle shall be driven over any fire hose except by consent of the Fire Chief or their assistants on duty.
No vehicle shall pass through a funeral procession when the procession vehicles display their mission.
All vehicles emerging from an alley, driveway, garage or building shall come to a complete stop before entering a sidewalk area.
A driver crossing from one side of the street to the other within a business district shall do so by turning to the left so as to head in the general direction of traffic on that side of the street.
No vehicle shall stop with its left side to the curb. This section shall not apply to those streets used as a one-way street.

Upon those streets described and specified below, vehicular traffic shall move only in the indicated direction when signs indicating the direction of traffic are erected and maintained at every intersection where movement in the opposite direction is prohibited.[1]

During the period between November 1 and May 15, except when otherwise determined to be necessary by the City Engineer, no vehicle the gross weight of which (vehicle and load combined) exceeds 3 1/2 tons shall pass over the portions of highways within the City of Bangor designated below or any City street designated by the City Engineer, except when the surface of the road is solidly frozen.

On those streets and in areas designated with posted signs, no horse trailer, livestock trailer or other towed or trailer vehicle shall be allowed to pass over said streets and areas at any time of the day or night. This provision shall not apply to trailers owned by residents of the designated streets for their personal use or to trailer vehicles used in making deliveries to residents of the designated streets. A sign shall be posted at each end of the streets so designated indicating "no through trailers permitted."
No vehicle, unless in an emergency or to allow vehicles and pedestrians to pass, shall stop in any public way except close to the curb, and no vehicle shall stop in such a manner as to obstruct any street or crosswalk.
A vehicle waiting at the curb shall promptly give place to a vehicle to take on or let off passengers.
No person shall drive, guide or have the care of two or more horses harnessed respectively to different vehicles. Horses harnessed to vehicles backed up to the curb shall be turned so as to stand parallel to the curb and headed in the direction of traffic.
No person shall drive any truck having a gross weight of over 14,000 pounds on State Street between Broadway and Exchange Street without first obtaining special permission to do so from the Police Department.
No person shall drive any motor vehicle on any City street in such a manner as to intentionally cause one or more tires of the vehicle to lose contact with the street surface. It shall be prima facie evidence that the vehicle driver intended to cause the vehicle tire(s) to lose contact with the street surface if the vehicle tire(s) lose such contact while the vehicle is being operated in a wanton or reckless manner or at speeds more than five miles per hour in excess of the posted speed limit. Other provisions of this chapter notwithstanding, violations of this section shall be punishable, upon conviction, by a civil fine of not less than $500 and not in excess of $2,500.
