There shall be a Division of Tax Collections, the head of which shall be the Township Tax Collector. His or her compensation shall be upon the terms and provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township.
The Township Tax Collector shall either have a bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university or have a minimum of five years' experience in municipal tax collections and shall have those qualifications as otherwise provided for by applicable law.
The Township Tax Collector shall:
A.
Extend each year's tax on the tax duplicate, prepare and mail tax bills and maintain tax account records in such manner as may be prescribed or approved by the Business Administrator.
B.
Receive and collect all property taxes, local improvement fees and such other charges as may be made by the Township and receive penalties and interest pursuant to law and account for all such collections in such form and manner as may be prescribed or approved by the Business Administrator.
C.
Make or cause to be made and certify searches for tax and other liens on any real property in the Township as may be authorized by law and charge and collect, for the use of the Township, the fee required by law for any such search.
D.
Fulfill those duties and responsibilities otherwise imposed upon the Tax Collector by applicable law and perform such other duties and responsibilities as the Mayor or Business Administrator may designate.
