Principal permitted uses in the R-1A District
are as set forth in the Schedule of Use, Area and Bulk Regulations
included at the end of this chapter.
Conditional uses in the R-1A District are as
set forth in the Schedule of Use, Area and Bulk Regulations included
at the end of this chapter, with the following conditions:
A. A home occupation which is carried on as an accessory
use by one or more members of the family residing on the premises,
provided that:
(1) The use is not a professional occupation except as hereafter specifically provided in Subsection
B below; and
(2) The use shall be carried on wholly within a completely
enclosed building; and
(3) In the activity, not more than 1/2 of the floor area
of any one floor or basement shall be used; and
(4) In the conduct of the activity, no person outside
the family shall be employed; and
(5) In the course of the activity, no exterior sign or
display shall be permitted; and
(6) In the conduct of such occupation, there shall not
be any exterior storage of materials or equipment; and
(7) Such home occupation shall be in keeping with the
character of the neighborhood in which it is located.
B. Office of a doctor or dentist residing on the premises,
provided that:
(1) No more than three persons are so employed at any
one time; and
(2) Such office is entirely within the principal building;
and
(3) No more than 1/2 of the area of one floor is so used.
C. Public utility substations or pumping stations, upon
a showing that such structure is 7essential to serve the immediate
neighborhood, provided that:
(1) They cannot be located in any other type of district;
(2) They are housed in buildings that harmonize with the
character of the neighborhood;
(3) They have adequate fences and other safety devices,
adequate screening and landscaping; and
(4) They meet all other standards of this chapter.
D. Private schools of general instruction, whether or not operated for profit, but not business schools with conditions similar to home occupations (Subsection
A).
