The purpose of this article is to create an additional position based upon the increased volume of cases handled by the Town of Chester Justices.

The Town Board of the Town of Chester is hereby authorized to appoint not more than one Clerk, who shall be known as a "Deputy Court Clerk," and the Town Board shall establish the maximum number of hours the said Clerk may work per week. Said Clerk shall serve under the supervision and direction of the Town Justices and shall possess all the powers and duties as assigned to him or her by the Town Justices.

The appointed Deputy Court Clerk shall be considered as a confidential employee and shall be paid at a rate to be established by the Chester Town Board.
The appointed Deputy Court Clerk shall serve at the pleasure of the Town Board and shall be appointed by the Town Board of the Town of Chester upon recommendation of the Town Justices at the reorganizational meeting of the Chester Town Board each year.
