It shall be unlawful for any person to establish,
maintain or operate a coin-operated dry-cleaning establishment in
the City of Rye without a permit therefor. Application for such permit
shall be accompanied by an inspection and permit fee to be set annually
by resolution of the City Council before adoption of the budget for
the following year. Each such permit or renewal thereof shall expire
on December 31 next following its issuance and may be renewed for
a period of one year from the date of expiration after application
therefor and payment of the permit fee.
No permit shall be issued for a coin-operated
dry-cleaning establishment in any building occupied in part as a dwelling.
No coin-operated dry-cleaning machine shall
be used by the general public unless under the continued direct supervision
of an employee or owner of the coin-operated dry-cleaning establishment
who is competent to supervise the operation of such machine.
All coin-operated dry-cleaning machines and
locations must be approved by the Building Inspector and Fire Inspector
prior to the operation of a coin-operated dry-cleaning establishment
for public use. A floor plan showing the business premises and the
location, type and manner of installation of all equipment shall be
submitted with each permit application.
