As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
FALSE ALARM
Any signal by a police/fire alarm to which the police, fire or other
emergency personnel respond which is not the result of a criminal act, fire,
heat, smoke, gas or other event requiring emergency response. An alarm test
without notification to the Police Department or Fire Department shall be
considered a false alarm.
POLICE/FIRE ALARM
Any installation of an alarm system (such as a smoke detector, heat
detector, sprinkler head, pull station or flow alarm) designed to be activated
by a criminal act, fire, heat, smoke or gas or other event requiring emergency
response by a public safety agency which transmits a signal by telephone,
radio or other means to the Village police or fire station or other receiving
facility, such as a privately owned security or alarm company.
Any person who owns, maintains or operates a police/fire alarm in the Village which has not been properly registered shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a forfeiture as provided in Chapter
1, §
1-4.
Any person or firm that owns, operates, or maintains a police/fire alarm system in the Village which within one calendar year generates more than 10 false alarms shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to forfeiture as provided in Chapter
1, §
1-4. False alarm enforcement may be taken against the homeowner or private company contracted to provide said alarm service.
