Existing uses. Any lawful use of land within the critical area existing as of June 29, 1988, may continue, but may not be intensified or expanded unless such intensification or expansion shall bring structures and uses into conformity with the provisions of this Chapter
14:1 or unless a variance is obtained pursuant to Part
7 of this Chapter
14:1. Any such use, however, which is abandoned for a continuous and uninterrupted period of more than one year after the passage of this Chapter
14:1 shall not be resumed unless the use conforms to the provisions of this Chapter
