Pursuant to the vote of the electorate of the City of Brigantine at the general election of November 7, 1989, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:69A-19, providing for direct petition of the registered voters, the form of government in the City of Brigantine, from and after January 1, 1991, 12:00 noon, is hereby established as the Council-Manager Plan, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:69A-1 to 40:69A-210 et seq., the Optional Municipal Charters Law. The specific provisions concerning the Council-Manager Plan form chosen for the City of Brigantine are found at N.J.S.A. 40:69A-81 et seq.
The City Council of the City of Brigantine shall consist of a Mayor, elected at large by the voters, two at-large Council members and four ward Council members.
A. 
The Mayor shall be elected to a four-year term, beginning with the first election of the members of Council.
B. 
The at-large Council members shall be elected to four-year terms, beginning with the first election of the members of Council.
C. 
The ward Council members shall be elected to four-year terms, except that the term of the ward Council members shall be two years following the first election of the members of the Council, and four years thereafter.
All elections shall be held at the general election provided for under New Jersey law.
