A financial stipend shall be paid to the Waterford
Township volunteer firefighters based on the following procedure.
A.
Township budget. The Township shall establish a separate
line item in its annual budget captioned "Emergency Responders Stipend
Program."
B.
Amount;
allocation. The amount placed into the annual budget for this purpose
shall be at the discretion of the Township Committee.
C.
At the discretion of the Township Committee, the amount placed into the annual budget for the purpose of duty crew shall not exceed the sum of $4,160 per budget year. Each qualified firefighter assigned to work duty crew assignment will receive not more than $20 per shift. The duty crew stipend will be paid to a volunteer firefighter who meets the identified eligibility requirements set forth in § 69-3A.
A.
A stipend will be paid to a volunteer firefighter
who responds to at least 15% of emergency calls and attends 40% of
scheduled drills during a one-year time period.
B.
The total amount of the stipend to be paid to each
volunteer firefighter meeting the minimum eligibility requirements
as set forth above will be based on the total amount of emergency
calls and drills attended by the firefighter, which total will then
be added together with the total number of emergency calls and drills
attended by all other volunteer firefighters in the case of the Waterford
Township Fire Department, which total number will then be divided
by the dollar allotment provided to the Waterford Township Fire Department.
The time period for calculating a volunteer
firefighter's eligibility for a stipend shall be from December 1 to
November 30 of each year.
Payment of the stipend to all eligible volunteer
firefighters will be during the month of December of each year.
