This chapter shall be as and cited as the "Building
Permit Ordinance of the Town of Corinth."

The purpose of this chapter is to promote the
health, safety, morals and general welfare of the community, including
the protection and preservation of the natural resources and property
of the Town of Corinth and of its inhabitants, by establishing specific
requirements and regulations governing the occupancy, construction
and maintenance of buildings and structures.

This chapter, in conjunction with the New York
State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code, National Fire Protection Agency, American National Standards
Institute on Barrier-Free Design and National Electric Code (hereinafter
the NFPA, ANSI Standards and NEC), establishes minimum standards for
buildings and structures and requirements for the design, construction,
alteration, extension and maintenance of buildings and structures
and related utilities and facilities; authorizes the issuance of permits
for construction, alteration and extension of buildings and structures;
authorizes the inspection of buildings and structures; and fixes penalties
for violations.
