The Board of Trustees of the Village of Hempstead shall appoint such inspectors necessary to make the inspections and enforce the ordinances, rules and regulations as provided for in § 90-a of the Village Law.[1]

There shall also be a Superintendent of Inspectors and/or a Superintendent of Building Department, who shall have all of the powers and duties of the Electrical Inspector, Building Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Multiple Residence Inspector, Housing Inspector and Fire Inspector as set forth in the Code, Building Code and Electrical Code of the Incorporated Village of Hempstead.

Such Superintendent of Inspectors and/or Superintendent of Building Department shall have supervision over the Electrical, Building, Plumbing, Multiple Residence, Housing and Fire Inspectors as provided by ordinances and codes; shall have charge of the administration, supervision and enforcement of the various provisions of the Code, Building Code and Electrical Code of the Incorporated Village of Hempstead; and shall make rules and regulations for the issuance of the various permits and licenses as provided for in said codes and ordinances.
