Hereafter the following plan of the numbering of properties
in the Borough is hereby adopted, and all public services now or hereafter
engaged in by the Borough, such as police, fire, water, etc., will
have reference to the streets and numbering herein mentioned, and
prompt and efficient service will be rendered in compliance therewith:
A. Beginning at the intersection of Main Street and George
Street and running north, south, east and west to the entire length
of their direction, within the corporate limits, the numbering shall
be as follows: the odd numbers shall be on the north and east sides,
and the even numbers shall be on the south and west sides of the streets
in relation to the said intersection.
B. Beginning at the intersection of Main Street and George
Street, all streets paralleling, or nearly so, with Main Street running
north and south, the numbering shall be as follows: the odd numbers
shall be on the east side and the even numbers shall be on the west
side of the streets in multiples of one to 100 and continue beginning
with 101 and extending to 200, or as many thereof as may be required
and adding an additional hundred for each succeeding block and section.
Also at the intersection of Main Street and George Street all streets
paralleling, or nearly so, with George Street, running east and west,
the numbering shall be as follows: the odd numbers shall be on the
north side and the even numbers shall be on the south side of the
street in multiples of one to 100 and continue beginning with 101
and extending to 200, or as many thereof as may be required and adding an
additional hundred for each succeeding block and section. Following
the numbering in the manner above, where there are courts, squares
or other highways not conforming to any of the above regulations,
the numbering shall be established by the Street Committee of the
Borough Council and furnished through the Building Code Official.
All persons owning or controlling property and desiring to secure
numbers may apply to the Building Code Official. Said Building Code
Official will maintain a map or plan showing the occupation of the
premises and the numbers applied for. Vacant land may be assigned
a number where new construction is contemplated. In case of miscalculations
or unexpected congestion, decimal numbers may be applied between the
integer numbers assigned.
Any person who violates any provisions of this chapter shall,
upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than
$1,000 and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment thereof,
be imprisoned for a period of not more than 30 days.
