As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
GARAGE SALE
Includes yard sale, rummage sale, porch sale, moving sale, or any other sale offering items for sale by an individual at a residentially used parcel or lot.
SIGN
Includes any type of advertisement placed on the property of the sale or off the premises of the sale.
STREET or ROAD END
Includes any state, county, easement, or right-of-way determined to be used as access, and which is not owned by the individual of the sale.
A. 
No more than two garage sales per year will be allowed at one address.
B. 
Each of the two permitted sales will have a duration of no more than five days per sale. Two sales may not run consecutively.
Any garage sale will require a permit from Denton Township prior to the start of the sale. Permits will be sold at the Township office.
A. 
The only signs allowed will be approved Denton Township signs and will be provided when the permit is obtained.
B. 
One sign may be placed on the premises of the sale, and one sign may be placed at the street end of the sale.
C. 
The sign placed on the street end must be on a stake no higher than three feet in height. No sign may be placed on a utility pole or other sign pole.
D. 
Signs may be posted one day prior to the sale and must be removed the last day of the sale.
A. 
The enforcement of this chapter shall be performed by such person or persons designated as an authorized agent by the Township Board.
B. 
Any person not obtaining a permit for a sale will be charged double when obtaining such permit for a first offense, and as established by Township resolution, and a fine no less than $25 for a second offense, and a fine of $50 for any offense thereafter.
C. 
Any sign which is not an approved Denton Township sign or is placed in violation of this chapter will be removed.
D. 
Any person who shall violate this chapter shall be responsible for a municipal civil infraction, and proceedings shall be instituted pursuant to Chapter 38, Municipal Civil Infractions.
