The Michigan Vehicle Code, 1949 PA 300, MCLA §§ 257.1 to 257.923, and all future amendments and revisions to the Michigan Vehicle Code when they are adopted and effective in this state are adopted by reference.
Provisions of the Michigan Vehicle Code, 1949 PA 300, MCLA §§ 257.1 to 257.923, and all future amendments and revisions to the Michigan Vehicle Code when they are adopted and effective in this state shall be codified to the Code of the Township of Denton according to the section number assigned each such section by the Michigan Compiled Laws. By way of example, Section 1 of the Michigan Vehicle Code would be adopted by reference as Chapter x, sec. of the Code of the Township of Denton, and so forth. The term "local authorities" as used in the Michigan Vehicle Code shall mean the Township of Denton with respect to provisions of the Michigan Vehicle Code enforced as an ordinance of the Township of Denton.
Provisions of the Michigan Vehicle Code for which the maximum period of imprisonment is greater than 93 days shall not be enforced as an ordinance of the Township of Denton.
The Uniform Traffic Code for Cities, Townships, and Villages as promulgated by the Director of the Michigan Department of State Police and made effective October 30, 2002, and all future amendments and revisions to the Uniform Traffic Code when they are promulgated and effective in this state are incorporated and adopted by reference.
Provisions of the Uniform Traffic Code and all future amendments to the Uniform Traffic Code when they are promulgated and effective in this state shall be codified to the Code of the Township of Denton according to the rule number assigned each such rule of the Uniform Traffic Code. The term "governmental unit" as used in the Uniform Traffic Code shall mean the Township of Denton.

The Denton Township Board does hereby designate the Denton Township Chief of Police as its duly authorized representative for the purpose of regulating pedestrian traffic and the operation, parking without fees and the speed of motor vehicles upon the property of the Houghton Lake Community Schools located within the Township of Denton. Pursuant to the authority hereby granted, the Denton Township Chief of Police shall have the powers and the authority hereinafter enumerated, and the Denton Township Police Department and its duly appointed officers shall have the power to enforce the rules and regulations enacted by the said Denton Township Chief of Police in accordance with the powers and authority herein conferred.
The powers and authority of the Denton Township Chief of Police shall include the authority to:
A. 
Order stop signs, yield signs or other traffic control devices erected at specified locations on or leading into or from property of the Houghton Lake Community Schools.
B. 
Regulate the operation and parking of vehicles within or on the property of the Houghton Lake Community Schools, including, without limitation, the regulation of traffic flow and the establishment of speed limits, parking and nonparking areas, one-way roads, and other reasonable rules with respect to traffic and parking as local conditions may require for the safety and convenience of the public.
C. 
Provide for the removal and storage of vehicles parked or abandoned in violation of the rules and regulations promulgated in accordance with this article and to provide for the payment of reasonable charges for such removal and storage by the owner or operator of any such vehicle.
D. 
Regulate pedestrian flow and travel on and about the property of the Houghton Lake Community Schools.
Enforcement of the rules and regulations established by the Denton Township Chief of Police in accordance with this article may be made by any law enforcement officer having jurisdiction in Denton Township in the same manner as other traffic ordinances in Denton Township.
Violations of the rules and regulations established in accordance with this article shall be as provided in the Uniform Traffic Code.
