The Department of Public Works shall be headed
by a director who shall be qualified by training and experience.
The Department of Public Works shall perform
all appropriate functions associated with:
A.
Maintaining, constructing and reconstructing or supervising
the maintenance, construction and reconstruction of streets, roads
and drainage facilities.
B.
Maintaining or supervising the maintenance of public
buildings and grounds, including, without limitation, parks, gardens
and shade trees.
C.
Maintaining or supervising the maintenance of motorized
and other equipment.
D.
Installing, repairing and maintaining or supervising
the installation, repair or maintenance of traffic signals, signs
and electrical equipment.
E.
Supervising animal disposal activities.
F.
Maintaining or supervising the maintenance of the
sanitary sewer system.
The Department of Public Works shall be organized pursuant to plan approved as provided in § 4-8 of this chapter.
