GENERAL REFERENCES
Massage parlors and/or therapy centers — See Ch. 212.
All of the above-referenced establishments[1] located within the Township of Hillside shall not be opened before
7:00 a.m. and shall be closed not later than 9:00 p.m. The owner or operator
of every referenced establishment under this chapter shall clearly report
the business hours on or near the entrance door of said premises.

Editor's Note: Said establishments were designated in the title
of the ordinance that adopted this chapter as barber shops, beauty salons,
nail or manicure salons, tattoo parlors, body-piercing salons, tanning salons
and ancillary services related thereto and controlled by N.J.S.A. 40:52-1
et seq.
During the hours of closing, in accordance with this chapter, a full
view of the interior of such places shall be open to full view from the street
or public thoroughfare and shall not be obstructed by use of nontransparent
glass or any shade, blind, shutter, screen, partition, curtain or any article
placed within or outside the premises. This provision shall not prevent the
owner or operator of any such establishment from taking reasonable measures
to prevent criminal intrusion during hours when they are closed for business,
subject to the approval of the Chief of Police of the Township of Hillside.
Nothing herein contained shall be held or construed to prohibit the
rendering of services to any person(s) already within the premises before
the hour fixed for closing, provided, however, no services shall be rendered
to such person for more than 60 minutes after the hour fixed for closing and
no person other than the owner or an employee shall be permitted to enter
the premises after the hour fixed for closing. The presence upon the premises
of any person other than the owner or an employee for more than 60 minutes
beyond the hour fixed for closing shall be prima facie evidence of a violation
of this chapter. In addition, the entry upon the premises of any person other
than the owner or an employee after the hour fixed for closing shall be prima
facie evidence of a violation of this chapter.
The owner or operator of the referenced establishment subject to this
chapter who violates its provisions shall be fined $250 and subject to closure
upon subsequent violations and fined $500 and subject to imprisonment not
to exceed 10 days.
