[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Health of the Township of Hillside 12-4-1991. Amendments noted where applicable.]
There is hereby created the position of Graduate Nurse, Public Health.
The duties of said position shall be to give nursing service in clinics, conferences and schools; give nursing care in homes and teach and demonstrate to others the nursing care that they may assume safely; perform diagnostic tests and immunizations; participate in the control of acute and chronic disease through giving specific instructions and demonstrations in homes, schools, clinics, etc.; conduct classes in home nursing for groups in the community; observe patient and families for signs of physical or emotional illness and report the same to a supervisor; collect specimens for a laboratory analysis; assist a Public Health Nurse in the operation of a public health clinic; carry out written orders signed by the physician for prescribed therapeutic measures; record descriptions of the patient's condition, medication and treatments; encourage, instruct and assist the patient in a rehabilitation program; participate in the interpretation of treatment to the patient and to the family, if necessary, evaluate the program for individual nursing care and prepare reports and recommendations through the proper channels concerning physical facilities, supplies and equipment, instruct and direct nonprofessional nursing personnel for whom responsibility has been assigned; maintain a dignified professional approach to staff and public relations; maintain an active interest in learning new techniques and development in the nursing field; participate in civic, educational and professional organizations to provide for further growth; and such duties as may be assigned by the Board of Health or by the Health Officer.
Any and all appointments to said position shall be in conformity with the Department of Personnel, rules and regulations of the State of New Jersey.
The annual salary or compensation and the salary range for said position shall be as set forth in the Salary Ordinance as adopted by the Board of Health, which is on file in the offices of the Board of Health.
