The Fire Department of the Village or any one or more fire companies
thereof are hereby authorized and permitted to go to the aid of another city,
village, town or fire district outside of the Village limits to assist in
extinguishing fire or to give assistance in other public disasters or emergencies.
The Chief Engineer of the Fire Department, in this article designated
as the Fire Chief, is empowered to direct that aid be extended to other communities
as herein provided. In the absence or disability of the Chief, the First Assistant
Chief, and, in the absence or disability of both the Chief and First Assistant,
the Second Assistant Chief, shall have the power to direct that such aid be
extended.
While extending such aid, the members of the Fire Department shall have
the same immunities and privileges as though they were performing similar
duties within the Village.
