[Adopted 2-22-1971 by L.L. No. 1-1971 as Ch. 62, Art. III, of the 1971 Code]
Every owner or occupant of any house, store or other building, and every person or corporation owning or being entitled to possession of any vacant lot or unimproved property, shall at all times keep the premises owned or occupied by them or to the possession of which they are entitled, free from papers, boxes, rubbish or other inflammable material which is likely to cause damage by fire. All weeds, grass, vines or other growth within 25 feet of any building or structure, when same endangers property or is liable to be fired, shall be cut down and removed by the owner or occupant.
The Bureau of Fire Prevention shall serve a notice in writing, either personally or by mail, on any owner, lessee or occupant of real property in the Village, to remove or destroy any accumulations of such grass, weeds, brush and all other forms of refuse or rubbish thereon likely to cause or spread fires.
A person so served who, for five days after service, shall neglect or fail to comply with such notice, shall be deemed to have violated this article.
