A. 
No land, building or structure shall be used, erected or altered for the keeping of animals except domestic animals or pets that are customarily kept within the confines of a principal residence or business building.
B. 
If such a pet is kept in an accessory building, as defined in the zoning regulations of the village, such accessory building shall be distant at least ten (10) feet farther from the street line than the rear wall of the principal building, not less than ten (10) feet distant from any lot line and at least forty (40) feet distant from any dwelling on an adjacent property.
The owners or occupants of the premises on which any such dog, bitch or other such pet is kept shall maintain such premises in a clean and sanitary condition, and the owner or person keeping or harboring such dog, bitch or such other pet shall keep and confine the same so that it shall not be noxious or offensive by reason of the emission of odor, dirt, manure, droppings or noise.

No animal, bird or reptile shall be allowed to run at large within the village. If any such animal, bird or reptile shall be found at large within the village, any duly appointed Animal Warden, peace officer or duly authorized officer of the village may seize, confine and impound such animal, bird or reptile or, if it cannot be safely taken, destroy it.

Any animal, bird or reptile impounded pursuant to this Article shall be confined for a period of five (5) days and may be redeemed in accordance with the requirements of the Animal Warden of the Town of North Hempstead. All animals, birds and reptiles so impounded and not so redeemed shall be destroyed or offered for sale or sold by the Animal Warden of the Town of North Hempstead in accordance with the procedures and practices of that official.
Any offense against this Article shall be deemed sufficient reason for a duly authorized officer of the village to require the removal of any animal, bird or reptile from the premises whereon the same is kept or found and the disposal thereof. Any person owning or harboring any such animal, bird or reptile in a manner constituting an offense against this Article shall be punishable as provided in the general penalty provisions contained in Chapter 1, General Provisions, Art. II, of this Code. Any fine or penalty imposed thereunder shall be in addition to the redemption fees, charges and expenses hereinabove provided for.
