The Village Clerk-Treasurer is designated to be the records access officer, who shall have the duty of coordinating responses to public requests for access to records.[1]

Editor's Note: Former § 26-2, Responsibilities of officer, which immediately followed this section, was repealed 9-13-1993 by L.L. No. 11-1993.
The records are located at the Village Hall, 100 East Shore Road, Great Neck, New York, and requests to produce records shall be during the normal business hours. Such requests shall be in writing, in detail, and the request will either be provided or denied within five (5) business days of receipt.

If access to a document or documents is denied and the applicant shall appeal from such denial, such appeals shall be heard and determined by the Mayor.[1]

The Records Retention and Disposition Schedule LGS-1, issued pursuant to Article 57-A of the Arts and Cultural Affairs Law and containing legal minimum retention periods for municipal government records, is hereby adopted for use by all municipal officers in disposing of municipal government records listed therein.
In accordance with Article 57-A:
A. 
Only those records will be disposed of that are described in Records Retention and Disposition Schedule LGS-1 after they have met the minimum retention period prescribed therein.
B. 
Only those records will be disposed of that do not have sufficient administrative, fiscal, legal or historical value to merit retention beyond established time periods.
