There shall be a Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the head of which shall be the Director. The Director shall, in cooperation with the Courts, County Prosecutor, Sheriff and all other criminal justice agencies:
A.
Operate and maintain in a safe, sanitary and humane manner the Hudson County Correctional Center, and such other correctional facilities as are authorized by law; and
B.
Have and exercise custody, according to law, of such persons as may be committed to the Hudson County Correctional Center by a Court of competent jurisdiction, according to the terms of such commitment.[1]
