Editor's Note: This ordinance was originally adopted as Article III, but was redesignated as Article V because this chapter already contained an Article III. In addition, Ord. No. 07-33 provided that all current and previous appointments and promotions of the Fire Division made by the City Council, as well as all previous appointments made by the Fire Chief and Director of Public Safety, be ratified and approved. If officer holds a position or rank in a number that is in excess of that allowed under the Table of Organization, that rank or position is created until such time as the numbers in the rank are reduced to the number designated in the Table of Organization set forth in § 40-12.
A. 
There is hereby created in and for the City of Bridgeton Fire Division which shall not exceed the following Table of Organization:

Editor's Note: This ordinance further provided that the prescribed number of Battalion Chiefs shall not exceed three, and the prescribed number of Deputy Chiefs shall not exceed two.
B. 
In addition, civilian employees, including but not limited to emergency medical service personnel (EMS), clerks, computer personnel and account clerks may be hired subject to the recommendation of the Fire Chief and appropriate authority of the City of Bridgeton. Further, the Fire Chief shall have discretion to assign firefighters and EMS to such duties, assignments, and responsibilities as he/she may determine from time to time in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:14-7.
C. 
For the purpose of command and control and efficient resource management, EMS personnel shall be subordinate to the Fire Chief and/or his/her designee(s) through an established and recognized chair of command and will be subject to all rules, regulations policies, standard operating procedures directives and orders as promulgated by the Office of the Fire Chief of and appropriate authority.
The establishment of a Table of Organization for the City of Bridgeton Fire Department shall not be deemed to require that all positions be filled, but rather the number of sworn personnel in each rank and/or position shall not exceed those set forth in this article unless the Table of Organization is amended by the City Council of the City of Bridgeton and such positions are subject to available funding of such positions by the adoption of a budget and salary ordinance by the City Council of the City of Bridgeton. Any municipal salary ordinance and appointment of persons in accordance with this Table of Organization shall be consistent with the foregoing and shall serve to fill the positions allowed pursuant to this section.
