No person shall smoke in any building. No smoking
is allowed on Town property unless there is a designated smoking area
posted with appropriate signage by the Town.

There shall be no smoking in any Town-of-Griswold-owned
or -leased vehicle.
As used in this chapter, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
The lighting or carrying of a lighted cigarette, cigar, pipe,
and other device or substance which contains tobacco and/or cannabis-related
products, including e-cigarettes, vaping and/or nicotine products.

No smoking signs shall be posted in a conspicuous
place, and such signs shall indicate that smoking is prohibited by
state law. Such signs, except in elevators, shall have letters at
least four inches high with the principal stroke of letters not less
than one-half-inch wide. Such signs shall be posted by the person
in control of such premises. Signs shall not be required to be posted
in vehicles, but the person in control of such vehicles may, in their
discretion, post signs in Town vehicles.

Any person found guilty of smoking in violation of
this chapter, failure to post signs as required by this chapter or
the unauthorized removal of such signs shall have committed an infraction.

Violation of this chapter will be taken seriously
and can result in disciplinary measures, including possible fines
($35 to $99 per Connecticut Clean Indoor Act, C.G.S. § 1-21b),
formal warning and/or dismissal.
Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to
require any smoking area in any building.
