[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Council of the Town of Wethersfield as Secs. 1-7-1 and 1-7-2 of the Code of 1972. Amendments noted where applicable.]

Emergency management — See Ch. 11.
The Town Council may contract for the furnishing of ambulance service within the Town limits with any person, firm or corporation and in connection therewith may lease any Town-owned ambulance facility to such person, firm or corporation on such terms as the Council shall determine, provided that the term of any such lease shall not exceed the term of any such contract for ambulance service and shall terminate when such contract is terminated, and each original or renewal term of such contract or lease shall not exceed one year.
The interlocal agreement to provide emergency medical services for the Towns of Wethersfield, Newington and Rocky Hill, or any two of the aforesaid towns, on file with the Town Clerk be and is hereby adopted to create a public agency to oversee the operations of the commercial/paramedic firm, to coordinate tri-Town or bi-Town emergency medical services, to perform the duties spelled out in the interlocal agreement and to perform such other tasks as may be assigned by the Town Councils.

The Town Council hereby creates an Emergency Medical Service Committee consisting of the Wethersfield members of the Bi-Town Emergency Medical Service Committee to oversee the operations of the commercial/paramedic firm, to coordinate Wethersfield emergency medical services, to perform the duties appropriate to Wethersfield spelled out in the interlocal agreement and to perform such other tasks as may be assigned by the Town Council. This section shall be superseded by § 7-2 whenever tri-Town or bi-Town emergency medical services are reactivated.
