A. 
There is hereby created the Wethersfield Heritage Commission.
B. 
The purposes of the Wethersfield Heritage Commission shall be:
(1) 
To develop, recommend and coordinate proposals and programs and methods to assist, initiate, encourage and sponsor activities in all fields of culture and the arts for Wethersfield; and
(2) 
To strengthen the local visitor experience, promote business development in Wethersfield, enhance tourism opportunities, and enhance interpretive aspects of the community.
A. 
The Commission shall consist of 11 regular members, appointed by the Council, as follows:
(1) 
Executive Director of the Wethersfield Historical Society or designee;
(2) 
Executive Director of the Webb Deane Stevens Museum or designee;
(3) 
One member of the Old Wethersfield Shopkeepers Association;
(4) 
One member of the Wethersfield Chamber of Commerce;
(5) 
One resident of Wethersfield;
(6) 
One member of the Economic Development and Improvement Commission;
(7) 
One representative of the Silas Deane business community;
(8) 
One resident of the Old Wethersfield Historic District;
(9) 
One representative of the business community, not retail;
(10) 
One representative of the Wethersfield Historic District Commission; and
(11) 
One representative of the Town government staff (the Town Manager or an appointee).
B. 
Beginning September 1, 2018, the Commission members shall be appointed for three-year terms by the Council.
C. 
Any vacancy in the membership of the Commission shall be filled by the Council for the unexpired term of such member.
The Commission shall fix the time and place of its regular meetings and provide a method for calling special meetings. The Commission shall determine its own rules of procedure. The Commission may adopt regulations, rules and procedures to carry out the purposes of this chapter. The Commission shall keep records of its meetings and activities and make an annual report to the Town Council. It may make special reports as the Town Council may request from time to time.
