There is hereby created an Advisory Committee
for People with Disabilities, which shall be comprised of eight persons
and an ex officio member to be designated by the Senior Citizens Advisory
Committee, who shall inquire into the needs of disabled persons, as
may be defined by said body, in the Town. In addition to the eight
regular members, there shall be four alternates. To the fullest extent
possible, said Committee shall include among its members those who
are disabled. The Committee shall make such reports and recommendations
to the Town Council as it deems appropriate.
The members of the Advisory Committee for People
with Disabilities shall be appointed by Council. Of the 15 persons
originally appointed to the Committee, seven shall have initial terms
that shall expire on June 30, 1977, and eight shall have initial terms
that shall expire on June 30, 1978. Upon the expiration of the original
appointment terms, all subsequent appointments shall be for terms
of two years, commencing on the first day of July. Any vacancy in
a membership of the Committee shall be filled by Council for the unexpired
term of such member.
