[Adopted 9-1-1972 as Ch. 26, Art.
II, of the 1972 Code; amended in its entirety at
time of adoption of Code (See Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. I)]
There is hereby established a Planning and Zoning
Department in and for the City.
The head of the Planning and Zoning Department
shall be the Community Service Director, who shall be appointed by
the City Manager for an indefinite term. Subject to supervision and
control by the City Manager, the Community Service Director shall
have supervision and control of the Planning and Zoning Department.
The Planning and Zoning Department shall assist
the City Manager, the Planning Commission and the City Council in
planning the orderly growth and development of the City and its environs,
including the development of zoning regulations.
Nothing in this article shall prohibit the City
from contracting for City planning services if the Council decides
that such services should be performed by contract rather than by
City personnel.
