GENERAL REFERENCES
Room tax for hotels and motels — See Ch. 249, Art, I.
It is hereby declared necessary in the interest of public health, welfare
and morals that the use of motels for residence purposes or by transients
or tourists in the village be regulated.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
Includes the individual rooms, cabins, cottages and like units included
in a motel.
Includes any structure where overnight lodging facilities are provided
for persons traveling by automobile or otherwise.
No private dwelling shall be used or advertised for use for hire for
overnight lodging purposes for persons traveling by automobile or otherwise.
A.
License required. No person, firm or corporation shall
hereafter operate or maintain any motel in the village without first obtaining
a license therefor as herein provided.
B.
Term. All licenses shall expire on the 30th day of June
after the date of their issuance and shall be subject to revocation by the
Village Board upon violation by the owner or operator of any of the provisions
of this chapter.
C.
Application.
(1)
Any person desiring a license to operate and maintain
a motel shall make written application setting forth the name and address
of such motel, the name and address of the owner and operator, the location
of the premises on which the motel is situated and any other information required
by the Finance and Licensing Committee of the Village Board.
(2)
Upon the filing of such application, it shall be referred
to the Finance and Licensing Committee for its consideration and recommendation.
The application, with such recommendation, shall then be considered by the
Village Board for approval or disapproval. If such application is approved,
the village shall be directed to issue the license.
D.
Fees. The annual license fee shall be $5 for the first
lodging unit and $2.50 for each additional lodging unit.
Each motel shall be maintained and operated in accordance with the regulations
and requirements of the Wisconsin Administrative Code, State Board of Health
Departmental Rules.

Any person who shall violate any provision of this chapter or any rule or regulation made under this chapter shall be subject to a penalty as provided in § 1-16 of this Code.
