A. 
The Borough normally shall pay its employees on a biweekly payroll schedule, that is, once in every two weeks. Each payroll period shall consist of 10 working days, so that the daily rate of pay of each salaried employee normally shall be 1/260 of his annual salary.
B. 
The hourly rate shall be computed by dividing the weekly rate by the number of hours in the employee's prescribed workweek.
C. 
Whenever an employee is temporarily assigned by resolution of the governing body to another position where the rate of pay is higher, said employee shall be paid at the rate of pay for that position. This subsection shall not be applicable to the regular uniformed members (police officers) of the South River Police Department.

A. 
Establishment of direct deposit program. As of the payroll date of January 1, 2016, mandatory direct deposit of net pay is established for all employees of the Borough of South River, including any person holding public office, position, or employment whose net pay is paid by the Borough of South River in accordance N.J.S.A. 52:14-15f(b).
B. 
Exceptions to direct deposit. Seasonal and temporary employees who are employed by the Borough of South River are exempt from the direct deposit mandate.

Employees may be compensated for overtime work when such compensation has been recommended by the department head, approved by the committee Chairman and certified by the Personnel Director.
B. 
When an employee works a prescribed workday of less than eight hours, overtime pay shall be computed at the normal equivalent hourly rate up to eight hours, after which the time-and-one-half provisions would take effect. When an employee works a prescribed workweek of less than 40 hours, overtime pay shall be computed at the normal hourly rate up to 40 hours, after which the time-and-one-half provisions would take effect.
C. 
For employees working on a shift basis, overtime pay at 1 1/2 times the normal hourly equivalent shall take effect only after the employee has worked 80 hours in a pay period.
D. 
When it becomes necessary for personnel to be called out on emergency, such personnel will be credited with a minimum of two hours' time at the appropriate hourly rates.
E. 
Overtime pay for the Police Department shall be as prescribed by PBA agreement.
Deductions in salary for leave without pay shall be computed on the basis of hourly rate as prescribed in § 68-22.
A. 
Annual salary step increments may be granted to each employee effective on his anniversary date until the employee's salary shall have reached the maximum salary provided for his position title. No employee, however, shall be granted a salary step increment until his department head has certified in writing to the governing body that during the past year the employee's performance and service were such as to make him deserving of an increase, setting forth the basis for such conclusion.
B. 
An employee who is promoted to a classification having a higher salary grade shall receive such salary as is comparable to but not less than his present salary.
