This article shall be known and may be cited
as the "Code Enforcement Ordinance of the Township of Girard."
There is hereby created by the Supervisors a
position in the Township of Girard to be known as the Office of Code
Enforcement. The Code Enforcement Officer shall be appointed by the
Supervisors. This shall be a part-time, paid position in the Township.
The Code Enforcement Officer shall receive such salary as is from
time to time established by resolution duly adopted by the Supervisors.
The Code Enforcement Officer shall have the
responsibility for enforcement of the following ordinances: ordinances
establishing fire lanes and handicap parking zones. The Supervisors
of the Township of Girard hereby designate the Code Enforcement Officer
as their official enforcement authority for these specified ordinances.
The Code Enforcement Officer shall also be responsible for delivering
notice of delinquent utility bills.
The Code Enforcement Officer shall take steps
to cause the correction of any violation of any ordinance under the
officer's jurisdiction. These steps may include verbal warnings, a
written direction to correct the matter or cease the activity, filing
of charges for ordinance violations or filing, with the assistance
of the Township Solicitor, other court actions to enforce the ordinance.
A record shall be kept of all business and activities
of the Code Enforcement Officer, and all such records shall be open
to the public for inspection at all appropriate times except that
no individual, owner, occupant, person or entity shall be subject
to unwarranted invasion of privacy. At least annually, the Code Enforcement
Officer shall submit to the Supervisors a written statement of operations
in a form and content acceptable to the Supervisors.
The Code Enforcement Officer shall serve under
the direct supervision of the Supervisors.
